Preparation and reactions of some polymeric xanthate sodium salt
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.25130/Abstract
This research includes some new chemical reactions which have been carried out on polymeric sodium xanthate salt (prepared from poly(vinyl alcohol)).
The reactions includes:
(1) the conversion of polymeric xanthate into polymeric xanthate esters by the reactions with o-chlorobenzyl chloride and dibromopropane,
(2) the conversion of the polymeric sodium salt into polymeric ammonium salt, (3) the elimination reaction of the polymeric xanthate salt to give polyene, (4) the crosslinking reaction of the polymeric xanthate salt with I₂.
The polymeric products have been identified spectroscopically using the IR and UV, one of the product has been identified by ¹H – NMR also some of the products have been analyzed for C, H, N, S
